The Canadian Steel Producers Association and Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers’ Association are supporting and funding a national program to remove mercury-containing switches from end-of-life scrapped vehicles before they are recycled into new steel.
This national program will be delivered through the Clean Air Foundation, a national not-for-profit organization, building on the success of its Switch Out program. The national Switch Out program is built upon a partnership among the auto, steel, auto recycling, and dismantling industries to promote pollution prevention.
